An ‘umbrella of umbrellas’
A focused network close to its core constituency
Our network brings together organisations, platforms, and associations working at a national level to promote the cross-sectoral interests of the civil society sector. A membership that work directly and indirectly with over 80.000 local, regional, and national civil society organisations, which in turn touch the lives of millions of citizens, contributing every day to the improving of livelihood in local communities across Europe.
Members are key in identifying, promoting and defending the needs of these organizations making sure the operational environment in which civil society organizations strive to achieve their goals is one that ensures development, sustainability and equity, therefore contributing to increasing the sector efficiency.
As our members’ members work across different sub-sectors of civil society, we work on topics that affect almost all not-for-profit actors regardless of whether they work solely on social issues, environmental issues, socio-cultural activities, or any other topic of societal interest.
The European Network of National Civil Society Associations (ENNA) was incorporated by royal decree on March 2011 as an international not-for-profit association. In the beginning, ENNA received structural support from the European Commission’s Europe for Citizens Programme and a general purpose grant from the Charles Stewart Mott Foundation.
Currently, ENNA is implementing, as partner, EU funded projects and smaller projects developed in partnership with its members.
At the same time, ENNA is involved in advocacy and networking activities with similar and complementary structures in Brussels, in order to bring the voice and needs of the third sector closer to the EU decision making process.
