The project has as main aim to strengthen the capacity and potential of civil society for monitoring and advocacy work from the Western Balkans and Turkey, and more specifically: 1. strengthen foundations for monitoring and advocacy on issues related to enabling environment and sustainability of civil society at regional and country level; 2. strengthen structures for Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) integration and participation in European Union (EU) policy and accession processes at European and country level.
Under this particular initiative, there has been created the Monitoring Matrix on Enabling Environment for Civil Society Development (CSDev), a tool that is measuring the health of the legal, regulatory, and financial environment in which civil society organisations (CSOs) operate in: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Kosovo, Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia and Turkey.
ENNA is being involved as punctual expertise provider due to its European wide network of civil society organizations and as policy monitoring and consulting support.
All the activities developed under the Balkan Civil Society Acquis fall under the BCSDN Mid-term Planning, which was implemented in two phases: 2012-2014 and 2014-2016. The second phase will end on 30 November 2016.
The project is being coordinated by BCSDN (Balkan Civil Society Development Network) and is implemented together with 13 of its members, ENNA and ECNL (European Center of Non-Profit Organizations Law).
The project is funded by The European Union, under the Instrument for Pre-accession Assistance (IPA) Civil Society Facility (CSF), EuropeAid/132438/C/ACT/Multi.
